OIE: More Cases of Classical Swine Fever Reported

GUATEMALA - A new outbreak of classical swine fever has been reported to the OIE by Dr Miguel Angel Azañón Robles, Director de Salud Animal, Area Zoosanitaria.

The new outbreak occurred on a farm in the Village of Monterrey, Santo Domingo, Suchitepequez,, Guatemala.

Of the eight pigs susceptible, the outbreak led to two cases which resulted in one death and seven pigs to be destroyed.

The farm was a small backyard operation without biosecurity measures.

The source of the outbreak is thought to be due to the introduction of new live animals.
